Small Strides, Healthy Lives extended between RunNB and the New Brunswick Medical Society

FREDERICTON (RUN NB) – RunNB is partnering again for a second-consecutive year with the New Brunswick Medical Society on an exclusive partnership for the popular Run NB children’s running program.

“Having the provincial medical society renew this agreement with our organization is great news for both groups as we share the same vision of promoting healthy living and encouraging our youth to run,” said Brian Richard, President of RunNB. “Every year, the number of children participating in our kids’ races grows and this renewed partnership will help promote children to lead healthy and active lifestyles.”

Entitled “Small Strides, Healthy Lives”, the kids program sponsored by the New Brunswick Medical Society is geared towards youth participation in road races during the RunNB road racing season.

“Every doctor knows that physical activity is absolutely a ‘wonder drug’,” said Dr Lynn Hansen, President of the New Brunswick Medical Society. “Doctors are working to promote physical activity through RunNB, in groups in their communities, and individually with patients.”

Children 14 years of age and under are encouraged to participate in children’s races throughout the season. Race directors of sanctioned RunNB races are supported to hold events for children at distances of one to three kilometres. Participating children in races receive a race bib and finisher medal supplied free of charge through the new partnership agreement between RunNB and the New Brunswick Medical Society. A total of 2640 medals were awarded last season.
