New Brunswick physicians announce successful EMR vendor
Fredericton, NB (01/17/2013): The New Brunswick Medical Society is pleased to announce the selection of Intrahealth as its provider of electronic medical records under a new program supported by the federal and provincial governments. This selection follows a rigorous procurement process conducted by Velante, a subsidiary of the Medical Society.
“We are pleased to move forward with the provision of electronic medical records to New Brunswick’s physicians,” said Anthony Knight, CEO of the NBMS. “We continue to advance this critically important project by leveraging the leadership of physicians.”
The Electronic Medical Record Program was first announced in August 2011. A Request for Proposals with 466 requirements was issued on MERX, a national procurement website. Of the thirty companies which downloaded the RFP, seventeen vendors responded with complete proposals. These were then evaluated through seven phases by physicians and information technology experts.
“We are particularly pleased with the transparency and rigorous nature of the evaluation process,” said Mr Knight. “Over twenty physicians were involved in the evaluations. We also collaborated extensively with the Department of Health and Canada Health Infoway.”
Intrahealth is an international company with clients in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. The company was created by physicians, is physician-led, and finished very well on each of the functional, technical, and quality evaluations conducted by Velante.
Velante will now proceed with implementing Intrahealth’s bilingual EMR in physician offices across the province. All physicians interested must formally enrol in the Program by the end of 2013.
